Update on temporary closure of Freshford Surgery
Please note the latest update from the Parish Council regarding the temporary closure of Freshford Surgery
Unfortunately, Beckington Family Practice has had to announce the temporary closure of Freshford Surgery on safety grounds. The requirements for premises from which medical services are supplied have tightened considerably in recent years and the aging building from which Freshford Surgery operates is sadly no longer up to scratch.
A considerable programme of remedial works is required which will take several months. The Practice regrets that this means that no services will be available from Freshford Surgery during this time. However it is the firm intention that the closure will only be temporary and the refurbished Surgery will re-open as soon as possible.
The implications for those who use the Surgery are as follows:
No further nurse or phlebotomist appointments at Freshford
Last GP appointments – 29th March
Last prescription dispensing – 29th March
Those who require GP, nurse or phlebotomist appointments after these dates will need to make them at Beckington (01373 830006), Fromefield (01373 464731) or online. The same total number of appointments will be available, the ones scheduled for Freshford being transferred to Beckington. Any resident who thinks they might have difficulty getting to one of the other surgeries might like to contact the volunteer-operated Transport Link on 07714 169216 to see if they can help.
Home visits from District Nurses are not affected by the temporary closure of the surgery.
It is hoped that it will be possible to arrange a limited but regular service for dispensing prescriptions from a distribution point in Freshford during the closure. Details will be announced shortly.
If you have any queries about how these arrangements will affect you personally you might like to raise them with your GP or the nurse at your next appointment. Alternatively please call 01373 830316.
Do please pass on this information to any friends and neighbours who may not have access to email.
Beckington Family Practice thanks patients for their understanding and patience during this temporary closure, which will be a difficult time for us all.
