PTA
All parents of children at Freshford School are welcomed as members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
The PTA raises valuable funds for our school. Its resources have been used recently for the design and creation of the children’s own kitchen, and to pay the artists and craftspeople who have done such inspiring work with the children during Arts Week and Industry Week.
This term we shall be investing in brand new construction kits for the Key Stage 2 children, and a sophisticated enlarger which will project its findings on to a screen, enabling all the children to see tiny objects in minute detail.
We shall be fundraising to pay for new laptops and interactive white boards for the classrooms – these are both expensive and invaluable to our children’s learning. We will be looking for your support to help us achieve our targets!
As well as fundraising, the PTA plays a part in developing social interaction amongst those involved with the school and with the wider village community. Events which the PTA organises on a regular basis include the spectacular firework display in the village, coordination of ice cream sales and bouncy castles at the village fete, jumble sales, children’s discos, the children’s Christmas party, monthly tea and cake sales in the playground, and a recent addition to our regular events – a balloon race, held on the last day of term to say goodbye to our Year 6 children and wish them well in their new schools.
PTA meetings are generally held once a month in a local pub. All parents are welcome to attend. It is very helpful to have parents from each school class so that no one age group goes unrepresented. We are always keen for new ideas and input so if you are a new parent and are keen to participate in the PTA we’d love to hear from you.
